Food is a Human Right.

Hunger doesn’t go away just because the government won’t do its job. Right now, more than 1 in 7 households in the U.S. struggle with food insecurity — and starting November 1st, nearly 42 million Americans will lose access to SNAP benefits that help them put food on the table.

These are our neighbors, friends, and family.

We can do something about it — but we need your help.

Join Blue Earth Compost in Fighting Food Insecurity

Blue Earth Compost is partnering with CT Foodshare and Hands On Hartford to collect food and raise funds for hunger relief. Together, we can feed people and the planet.

🥫 Donate Non-Perishable Food

We’ll use our trucks to collect non-perishable food donations right from your home.
In your customer account, go to the shop and simply add the free “Food Donation” item, then check out. We’ll coordinate pickup and delivery to Hands On Hartford. Please put your donations in a bag or box - ideally labeled - to help the driver identify.

Examples of accepted items:

  • Canned vegetables, beans, soups, or meats

  • Shelf-stable milk and nut butters

  • Pasta, rice, and cereal

  • Baby food and formula (unopened and within date)

All donations will be safely transported and delivered to our partner agencies.

💵 Give Financially

If you can give, please do. Financial donations are the most powerful way to fight hunger — they help food banks buy fresh produce, dairy, meat, and eggs that are more nutritious than canned or packaged foods.

You can donate directly through:
👉 CT Foodshare
👉 Hands On Hartford

Your dollars deliver dignity, nourishment, and hope.

🌱 New Customer Offer

For a limited time, donate $25 and receive one free month of home composting service — we’ll contribute the proceeds directly to Hands On Hartford. Sign up for the special “Fighting Hunger” subscription on our website and join a community that’s feeding both people and the planet.

❤️ Why It Matters

Food is a basic human right — and no one in our community should have to go without it. By working together, we can close the gap between abundance and need. When we take care of one another, we feed both people and planet.
